Moammar Qaddafi, Kadafi: Guilty Or Innocent?

After seizing control of Libya at the age of 27 in 1969, Moammar Qaddafi has been at the center of the U.S.’s attention in the middle east.

Accused by the West of being involved in the Lockerbie bombing in 1988, where a Pan Am flight over Scotland was shot down where 270 people died, he then faced sanctions by the U.S after not handing over two suspects. Per haps that was in retaliation for a U.S. strike against him in his family in 1988 which allegedly killed his daughter. This was carried out by the Reagan administration in 1986 for Libya allegedly being involved in a bombing of a German disco where 2 American soldier were killed.

However, in 1998, Libya became the first country to issue an international arrest warrant for Osama Bin Laden.

In 1999, Libya hands over two suspects of the Lockerbie case.

In 2001, Abdel Basset Ali Megrahi is convicted of the Lockerbie bombing. In August of 2009, the Scottish government released him saying he would die within months of prostate cancer. The Clintons in the U.S. condemned his release saying he should serve out his life sentence. Some in the U.K. believe he is innocent. Kadafi himself has been pushing for the release. Others say he is being released as part of a deal with Tony Blair that gives the UK access to oil in Libya. Abdel Basset Ali Megrahi received a hero’s welcome on his return to Libya.

In 2003, Libya renounced its nuclear program and handed over documents to the CIA to help them locate ring leaders of a nuclear underground black market.

Now Qaddafi is coming to the U.S as part of a U.N get together. Having trouble finding a place to stay, and liking to stay in a tent, Qaddafi is rumored to have rented a piece of property from Donald Trump in Bedford, New York, 43 miles outside of Manhattan. The Trump organization has stated that they rented the piece of land to middle easterners that may or may not have ties to Qaddafi.

As if that isn’t almost funny enough, local authorities are saying that the tents are illegal since they are temporary structures that are forbade by local building ordinances.

Qaddafi has recently stated that Iran may soon face destruction similar to that of Iraq.

Is it just me or does this wreak of politics? So what do you think? Is Qaddafi guilty or innocent? How do you think we should treat him? Should Trump have rented him the land? Pleas leave your comments below…

  1. If anyone doubted it before, Khadaffy’s speech at the UN proved once and for all that this person isn’t dealing with a 52-card deck. The man is clearly demented. And look at him. He dyes his hair, eyebrows, mustache and beard jet black, presumably to look younger, but his face looks like Jake LaMotta after going 15 rounds with Sugar Ray Robinson.

    • Yah, I seriously wonder if he’s on some kind of medication that causes him to swell up like that…
