Food Network’s Alton Brown: Does He Own the Network?

Food Network’s Alton Brown – Good Eats, Bad Host?

Ever watch Good Eats on the Food Network with Alton Brown? If you answered no, that’s a good thing–you aren’t missing anything. What is up with this guy? Does he own the network or something?

Every time I flip past the Food Network and he’s on it’s like a bad car accident–you hate to but you can’t help from looking. It reminds me of one those bad public access shows we used to watch back in high school. Since it was school, watching those shows was exactly one notch above watching paint dry. And those close-ups. Isn’t he aware of how painful those close-ups of his face are to the audience? It doesn’t even rate above a boring science show…it’s just bad…real bad.

So the next time you’re flipping channels and see something that resembles a deadly train wreck, keep on surfing. It’s just Alton Brown’s Good Eats, bad host.

(Video) Troops In Afghanistan Remake Lady Gagas Telephone – Must See Video

Lady Gaga and Beyonce don’t have anything on our fighting soldiers in Afghanistan. And here I thought the troops were all serious and deadly. I guess when you’re in the middle of a desert 5000 miles away from home this is what you do when you get bored in your down time…..

Why Google Owns the Internet

Why Google Is Taking Over The Internet

This is one of the huge welcoming signs for Go...
Image via Wikipedia

Ever see that movie or have that recurring dream where the slow moving sloth-like monster is chasing you and there is no possible way to lose him? Even though he moves slowly and clumsily, as soon as you trip and fall he will be on top of you to engulf you. That’s Google and why they will continue to own the internet. Every time I turn around Google is turning out something new. They don’t need to advertise because they have such a vast and hungry following with appetites almost as voracious as Apple fanatics.

No too long ago Google entered the affiliate marketing market. I haven’t checked on their progress in awhile but it’s kind of like a big fat guy jumping in the pool–everyone feels the ripples. They also have been rolling out that Google wave thing. I’m not sure about the progress there either. Not to mention Google Buzz. Oh, and who can forget when Topeka Kansas wanted Google to rollout their broadband in their city that they offered to change the city name to Google?

I really believe Google is too big for their britches. Remember search engines like altavista and lycos? If Google pumps out great products, that’s great. But where is there customer service. If you have any problems with Google at all is like being kicked out of the party by a 300 pound gorilla.–good luck getting back in. I think I’m going to try their customer service in the next day or 2. Wait, do they even have customer service?

See How Steve Jobs Goes Gangster Against Iphone Rivals

Steve Jobs To IPhone Rivals: Say ‘ello To My Little Friend

Rumor: Apple Thinking About Buying ARM. iPhone Rivals To Sleep With The Fishes?

The following is very much a rumor, but if true, it would be absolutely huge. A UK publication is reporting that Apple is considering buying ARM Holdings — aka, the company behind most of the world’s mobile phone processors. If Apple were to buy them, it would likely reshape the mobile landscape completely.

To be clear, London’s Evening Standard is only citing “gossips” within the city’s financial district. But those gossips aren’t the only ones convinced there is something to this talk: ARM’s shares went up 8.1 points today, with more than 5 million shares changing hands by midday, the paper reports. The deal, would apparently see Apple buying ARM for something in the neighborhood of 5.2 billion British pounds, or roughly $8 billion in U.S. dollars.

Yesterday, during its earnings call, Apple revealed that it had $41.7 billion in cash in the bank — so this deal is certainly doable.

And if they did this, it would mean that almost all of Apple’s main competitors would likely have to find new chips to power their devices. While ARM doesn’t make the chips itself, it licenses out its technology to others who make the chips that go into Nokia, Sony, Samsung, HTC, and many, many other phones. This includes the iPhone and even the iPad, whose custom A4 chip is still based on ARM architecture. This also, obviously, includes phones that run Google’s Android software.

ARM architecture also is used in systems such as the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP, which are also iPhone rivals of a different fashion: in gaming. Basically, if Apple did this, and cut off the ARM (funny, no?) supply, it would be a Michael Corleone-type maneuver to take out its rivals.

Apple bought chipmaker PA Semi back in 2008. That acquisition led to the development of the A4 chip. But that acquisition also led to the departure of key team members from the PA Semi team, who left to form a new company, Agnilux, which Google just purchased. Yeah, this continues to get more and more interesting.

Update: As Gary notes in the comments, according to the Wikipedia page, “The company [ARM] was founded as a joint venture between Acorn Computers, Apple Computer and VLSI Technology (as Advanced RISC Machines).

(Video) Ron Paul Makes Outrageous Allegations About the Fed to Bernanke

Ron Paul taking questions in Manchester, NH

A few days ago America’s News Now ran a story on how Wall Street reform is really just a political concept to appease voters. In this video, Ron Paul questions Ben Bernanke on some of the Fed’s decisions and raises some odd allegations. Nonetheless, this underscores the cozy relation ship between those in power in Washington and Wall Street.

(Video) An Emotional Jenna Jameson Defends Toto Ortiz: “He Did Not Beat Me”

(Video) Jenna Jameson on Tito Ortiz: He Did Not Beat Me

Jenna Jameson on Tito Ortiz: “He did not beat me.” After allegations from Jenna Jameson that her husband, UFC fighter Tito Ortiz, threw her into a shower at their home, Jenna later recounts her statement to reporters saying that no, in fact Tito “did not beat me.

Prior to this, Tito issued a statement with his attorney saying that Jenna is making these domestic violence allegations because she has been addicted to oxycontin for the past year. In an earlier satement to reporters before heading out to Las Vegas, when reporters told Jenna of Tito’s statement that she was addicted to oxycontin, , Jenna responded with “Yah, because he’s trying to save his a$.”

Don’t get me wrong, but I actually kind of like Tito. On all the Ultimate Fighting shows he’s been on, he has had nothing but a great attitude and support for the fighters he has worked with. However, I think his choice for a wife leaves something to be desired. For their twin kids’ sake, I hope they work ALL their problems out.

Whether or not Jenna is addicted to oxycontin or Tito is guilty of the domestic violence allegations, did anyone out there NOT see this coming? I mean come on, the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” marries a former adult film star? I also just read that they met on myspace. Myspace, are you kidding me? Did you think this was going to end like Ozzie and Harriet? Do you expect them to sit down and discuss their problems rationally like Ward and June Cleaver would have?

That’s what I thought.
